Young Programmer: The Chance for Women in the IT Market
The Young Programmer course, a pioneering initiative by Senac-ES, was created with the aim of providing qualification for women in the Information Technology (IT) sector.
Launched in 2023, the program has already qualified 373 women and, by 2025, is expanding its spots to allow more young women from Espírito Santo to have access to this universe.
With a free and in-person course, Senac is opening doors for those who want to change their lives and achieve a solid career in technology.
The total workload of the course is 308 hours, and it is aimed at women aged 16 to 29, who have completed at least the 2nd year of high school.
Furthermore, the selection considers a family income of up to two minimum wages, ensuring that education is accessible to those who need it most.
More Than Programming: Personal and Professional Development
The Young Programmer does not limit itself to teaching just code.
During the course, students are prepared not only for the technical aspects of programming but also for strengthening self-confidence and female inclusion in a sector historically dominated by men.
This differentiation is essential for developing a successful career.
Moreover, the course offers student assistance, with support for transportation and meals, ensuring that participants have the best learning conditions.

According to Dianimer Dutra, Director of Professional Education at Senac-ES, the initiative has shown a significant impact on the lives of the participants.
She stated: “The Young Programmer is Senac’s first gender affirmative action focused exclusively on women. With each class formed, we see stories of transformation, young women who previously did not envision a career in technology and are now integrated into the market, gaining space and changing their realities.”
These words gain weight when we analyze the testimony of Samires Gomes, one of the program’s first graduates. Samires shares that the course was a true turning point in her professional life.
“Participating in the Young Programmer was a turning point in my journey. I learned not only to code but to believe in my potential. The knowledge I gained opened doors, helped me secure my first job in the field, and overcome challenges that once seemed impossible,” she shares enthusiastically.
