Mini Toyota Hilux Will Arrive In 2024
Toyota has revealed the features of its new model in Indonesia, named Ranga. Still in the conceptual stage, this compact version of the Hilux is versatile, able to be adapted for various purposes, such as a food truck, cargo platform, or even a mobile charging station for electric vehicles. The IMV0 concept was developed to be a simple vehicle but with great utility for its owners.
According to the Carmag website, the mini Hilux is expected to arrive in South Africa in 2024, where it will be known as Stallion, reviving the name of a smaller pickup that was popular in the region in the 1980s.

Fiat works miracles in the Brazilian market, lowers the price of its 0 km hatch to R$ 69,990, reestablishes the model as the cheapest car in the country, and reignites the battle against Kwid and C3.
The expectation is that the model will receive different names in each market. According to the portal, the vehicle will be equipped with a 2.0 four-cylinder gasoline engine but does not rule out the possibility of diesel, hybrid, and fully electric versions.
With announced dimensions of 5.3 meters in length, 1.78 meters in width, 1.74 meters in height, and a 3-meter wheelbase, the Toyota mini Hilux will compete with models such as the Kia Bongo and the Hyundai HR. The latter have lengths of 4.82 meters, widths of 1.74 meters, heights of 2.1 meters, and wheelbases of 2.41 meters. Larger vehicles, such as the Iveco Daily and the Volkswagen Delivery, may also be rivals, although these have a more spacious cabin, resembling small trucks.
Possible Prices Of The Mini Toyota Hilux
According to data from the manufacturer itself, the final version of the IMV0 is expected to be delivered only in 2025 and may be sold in some Asian countries for 10 thousand dollars, equivalent to R$ 48,635 at the current exchange rate, excluding some safety items such as airbags and ABS brakes, which are not mandatory by law in some markets but are required in Brazil.
Speaking of Brazil, the model may be sold with diesel engine, if it has the capacity to transport more than one ton in the cargo bed, which is very likely.
Its sale in Brazil would also depend on regional production, as import taxes may significantly increase the product’s price. The solution might be the Argentine factory in Zárate, which is preparing to assemble the Hiace minivan in CKD mode, where the vehicle parts arrive in completely disassembled kits.
Toyota Is Producing A Hydrogen-Powered Hilux
In addition to this Toyota mini Hilux, the automaker developed its first prototype of the Hilux pickup with hydrogen fuel cell in its production line in England. This is a project supported by funding from the UK government and in collaboration with consortium partners. The company aims to assemble 10 hydrogen-powered Hilux by the end of the year. The powertrain of the hydrogen Hilux uses components from the Toyota Mirai.
The Japanese automaker estimates that the model will have a range of 600 km between hydrogen refuels. For comparison, the Hilux in the Australian market, equipped with a 2.8-liter turbo diesel engine, can travel about 1,150 km between refuels.
