Paraná Government and Itaipu Binacional Are Working Together. Partnership Creates Investment Opportunities Focused on Sustainability
The Paraná government and Sanepar, Itaipu Binacional, the Energy, Strategic and Sustainability for Territorial Development panel of the 4th Brazil Investment Forum highlighted the capacity of the state of Paraná to offer various opportunities for investments focused on sustainability.

Itaipu was represented by the coordination director Luiz Felipe Cabonell and the environmental management superintendent, Ariel Scheffer da Silva. Also present were Cláudio Stabile, president of Sanepar, the state’s vice-governor, Darci Piana, and Itaipu advisor José Carlos Aleluia Costa.
Piana and Carbonell highlighted the important partnership between the state government of Paraná and Itaipu Plant for improving the region’s infrastructure with several structuring works. The construction of the second bridge with Paraguay and the expansion of the runway at Foz International Airport were some of the examples cited.

Carbonell emphasized that investments in infrastructure, along with Itaipu’s investments in the environment, such as the maintenance of protected areas, care for rivers and the reservoir, as well as the establishment of a biodiversity corridor and new technologies, such as research at the Itaipu Technological Park in biogas, solar photovoltaics, sodium batteries, and hydrogen, have great potential to attract new investments to the region.
“Itaipu is much more than an energy generator. It is a success story of a company that has invested and continues to invest, opening opportunities for new public and private investments in the region,” Carbonell highlighted.
Numbers of the Paraná Economy
The vice-governor took the opportunity to further highlight the current economic landscape in numbers for the state of Paraná. He spoke about the automotive hub in the region that has the capacity to produce up to 500,000 vehicles per year, the main paper production hub in Brazil, the presence of 7 of the 10 largest cooperatives in Latin America in the state, in addition to the significant achievement of the state being the largest food producer per square meter on the planet.
