The Itaipu dam is a large hydroelectric dam on the Paraná River between Brazil and Paraguay. It is known for its nighttime light shows and views from the central lookout. The control room of the Production Building monitors the dam’s turbines.
Near the Paraguayan side, the Guarani Earth Museum has exhibitions about indigenous culture. To the north, the Tatí Yupí Sanctuary is a wildlife reserve with trails and birds.
