Transpetro, Petrobras Subsidiary, Ended 2023 With Contracts Exceeding R$ 500 Million in New Business. Leader in Multimodal Logistics in Latin America, the Company Reduced Costs and Expanded Its Fleet for LPG Transport.
Petrobras Transporte (Transpetro) celebrated the successful closure of the year 2023, registering the signing of contracts that exceed R$ 500 million in new business. These partnerships, mostly established with independent companies from the Petrobras System, solidify Transpetro’s position as the largest multimodal logistics company for oil and its derivatives in Latin America.
Transpetro Breaks Barriers With Independent Companies
With an extensive operation covering 180 clients, 48 terminals (27 waterway and 21 land), approximately 8,500 kilometers of pipelines, and a fleet of 36 ships, Transpetro stands out as Petrobras’s main subsidiary.
The pursuit of expanding its logistics services on land and sea for private clients is one of the priorities of the company’s new management.

Sergio Bacci, president of Transpetro, emphasizes that the company’s reach has been fundamental in attracting the attention of the private sector, resulting in the acquisition of new contracts.
He highlights that “more and more market players see value in Transpetro’s experience and competence,” indicating that the company is meeting its goals for generating new business.
Petrobras Subsidiary Reduces Costs With Ship-to-Ship Operations
Bacci emphasizes that the partnerships established will be expanded, highlighting the reach and synergy of Transpetro’s operations as a competitive differential in the oil, derivatives, and biofuels logistics sector.
An example of Transpetro’s strategic direction in seeking partners outside the Petrobras System is the new contracts for ship-to-ship operations (transfer of oil and derivatives between ships) in the Todos os Santos Bay, in Bahia.
This initiative involves several clients, such as Acelen, Ream, and Seacrest. Bacci points out that this logistics modality allows for economies of scale, reducing transportation costs in the maritime mode by up to 30%.
Transpetro Uses Its Own Fleet for LPG Delivery
In the North Region, Transpetro expanded its operations with the development of ship-to-barge transshipments at different points in the Amazon.
This strategy has been crucial in maintaining fuel supply in the region during the worst drought of rivers in recent times.
Clients such as Raízen, Novum, and Ream are among those benefiting from these operations.
The year 2023 also marked a significant innovation for Transpetro, with the use of a ship from its own fleet to serve a private client, performing the waterway transport of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) from Coari to Manaus.
New Perspectives in Transpetro’s Management
In addition to commercial achievements, Transpetro promoted internal changes in 2023, creating an Executive Management for New Business, directly linked to the presidency.
The company also increased the number of women in management positions by 48%, totaling 96 management roles led by female representatives.
There was also a 17% increase in the number of self-identified Black, Brown, Yellow, and Indigenous professionals in leadership positions.
For Transpetro’s new management, promoting a safe and diverse work environment is considered fundamental to driving business growth.
