Focused on the sustainability of the country and the state, the Court will install a solar power plant with 12,500 photovoltaic panels in an area of 70 thousand square meters, made available by the State Government of Maranhão.
With a focus on sustainability, the Court of Justice of Maranhão will install a solar power plant, which will guarantee significant savings on electricity costs with its operation, making the use of public resources more effective. The photovoltaic plant will be installed in an area along the road connecting the city of São Luís to the municipality of São José de Ribamar. The area was granted by the State Government of Maranhão and has an extension of 70 thousand square meters.

Fortescue announces a radical shift by replacing diesel with a system featuring 1.2 GW of solar energy, 600 MW of wind energy, and up to 5 GWh in batteries, a giant project that could save $100 million per year and transform heavy mining into one of the largest 100% renewable operations in the world by 2028.
According to Lourival Serejo, president of the Court of Justice, solar photovoltaic energy is the best source of clean and renewable energy when it comes to sustainability, as the solar plant does not bring any type of pollution or degradation to the environment.
The area has a size sufficient to accommodate the magnitude of the photovoltaic project and has ideal characteristics for solar energy absorption, stated Judge Jorge Rachid, president of the Management Commission of the Sustainable Logistics Plan of TJMA.
About the Project of 12,500 Photovoltaic Panels
According to Patryckson Santos, engineer of the Court of Justice of Maranhão, the estimated capacity of the solar power plant is 5 megawatts and will have about 12,500 photovoltaic panels, contributing significantly for Brazil to meet the 2030 Agenda, which is focused on sustainable development.
The overall project of the plant foresees an institutional partnership with the Government of Maranhão and the City Hall of São Luís, in addition to providing solar energy. This will enable students from public schools, both in elementary and high school, to access the facilities of the plant to learn about sustainability and energy generation.
Solar Energy in Maranhão
The state has 2,825 consumer units with a capacity of 34MW of electricity using solar energy, according to ANEEL. Compared to other states, there is still much work to be done in photovoltaic energy.
The state has 161 photovoltaic systems for every 100 thousand energy consumers. Another important fact is that about 138, out of a total of 217, have already been reached by photovoltaic energy, which means more than 60% of the municipalities.
