The Ship Is Docked At This Moment In Suape, In The State Of Pernambuco. Anvisa And Transpetro Have Already Begun Sanitary Safety Protocols
Some crew members working for Transpetro were diagnosed with covid-19 aboard the ship Carlos Drummond de Andrade last week. At this moment, the tanker is docked at the Port of Suape and isolated by Anvisa in order to curb the rate of contagion on board. The tanker Rômulo Almeida also had a similar case, confirmed exclusively by Click Petróleo e Gás on the 13th. The official statement from Transpetro can be found in the following paragraphs.
Suspicions indicate that other employees from outsourced companies, who boarded the ship to perform secondary services, ended up contaminating the crew members. The first diagnosed, according to information, was a Master and Marine Engineer, but it seems that 4 more infected individuals have emerged, totaling 6 (as of the time of this posting).
The crew of the ship learned about the situation through the “boca de ferro” (Radio Operation) at that moment. It was recommended that everyone stay locked in their cabins, with no contact in the lounges or with other crew members until further notice.

Four 24-meter suction sails that generate up to 7 times more lift than traditional sails have been installed on a Maersk oil tanker. The autonomous system can reduce consumption by up to 20% and is already recording savings of up to 5.4 tons of fuel per day at sea, with annual cuts potentially reaching thousands of tons on a single vessel.
There are several anxious tankers, and as there is still unclear information about what procedures Transpetro will adopt, especially because there are tankers to disembark in Suape, who have not been contaminated and belong to the risk group.
Official Statement From Transpetro To Click Petróleo E Gás
“Transpetro informs that a case of Covid has been confirmed aboard the Ship Carlos Drummond de Andrade on 21/11/2020. Immediately, the company reinforced distancing and prevention guidelines on board and notified the Health Surveillance of Suape-PE. The entire crew is being monitored by Transpetro’s Remote Health Service and has undergone RT-PCR testing. The confirmed cases were isolated, following the Ministry of Health Protocol.
The ship’s facilities are being sanitized daily by the crew and will undergo additional sanitization after the disembarkation of the crew members.
Transpetro reiterates its commitment to the health and safety of its employees and has been adopting robust procedures in all its units since the beginning of the pandemic, always acting diligently. Among the preventive measures against contagion are the pre-boarding quarantine period with health monitoring for all seafarers, health evaluations and RT-PCR testing before boarding, and on board, mandatory use of masks, physical distancing between individuals, and enhanced hygiene and other preventive measures.”
