Opportunities for Graduate Studies at PPGEOL-UFMG
The Institute of Geosciences (IGC) at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) announces the opening of applications for the Master’s and Doctorate programs in Geology for the first semester of 2024. Interested parties can register exclusively online until 12/08, through the Graduate Program in Geology (PPGEOL-UFMG). The entire selection process, including the stages and evaluations, will be conducted remotely, in accordance with the Regular and Supplementary notices published by the university’s Graduate Pro-rectorate (PRPg).
The REGULAR Notice offers 12 slots for Master’s and 10 for Doctorate, with specific slots reserved for self-declared black candidates, in compliance with Resolution No. 02/2017 of the Council for Teaching, Research, and Extension (Cepe), which establishes UFMG’s Affirmative Action Policy.
Supplementary Notices and Scholarships
In parallel, the SUPPLEMENTARY Notice, following the same resolution, is aimed at indigenous candidates and people with disabilities (PwD), offering 2 slots for each category in both courses, Master’s and Doctorate. Excellence and Innovation at PPGEOL-UFMG
PPGEOL-UFMG, rated five in the latest evaluation by Capes, is a distinguished program that began its activities in 1988 with the offering of Master’s and expanded to include Doctorate in Geology in 2001. Located at IGC of UFMG, the program stands out in the areas of “Regional Geology” and “Economic and Applied Geology”, addressing topics such as Metallogeny, Hydrogeology, and Environmental Geology.
Since its inception, PPGEOL-UFMG has graduated more than 300 students, including masters and doctors, significantly contributing to the advancement of knowledge in the field of geology. In addition to the Master’s and Doctorate programs, the program also offers postdoctoral opportunities, emphasizing its commitment to research and innovation in the field of geology.
