The Hollywood Actor Called The Practice Of “Theft,” Showed Concern With The Advance Of Synthetic Voices And Criticized The Creation Of The First “AI Actress,” Recently Presented To The Public

The actor Morgan Freeman expressed strong irritation with the advancement of technologies that allow voice cloning through artificial intelligence. He stated that the use of his voice in videos and advertisements without permission represents a form of theft, as it is work for which he is compensated.

Freeman said he has seen the problem grow rapidly because the resource has been used irresponsibly.

According to him, the most serious issue is the normalization of these synthetic copies, which can deceive the public.

Freeman Shows Irritation

In an interview with the British newspaper The Guardian, the star was emphatic in commenting on the situation: “I’m a little irritated, you know. I’m like any other actor: don’t imitate me falsely. I don’t appreciate it and I am paid to do these things, so if they’re going to do it without me, they’re stealing from me.”

Freeman explained that his legal team is working to curb the practice. He revealed that his lawyers are dealing with numerous cases involving the improper use of his voice created by AI. “Well, I tell you, my lawyers have been very, very busy. Many, yes. Quite a few,” the actor stated.

Actors x Artificial Intelligence

In addition to legal actions, Freeman expressed skepticism regarding digital figures created by AI, such as Tilly Norwood, recently introduced as the first “synthetic actress.”

He believes that this type of technology directly threatens human professionals.

For the artist, the audience will not connect with something that is not real, so the complete replacement of actors is unlikely. “No one likes her because she’s not real and that takes away the space of a real person, so it’s not going to work very well in movies or on TV… The union’s job is to keep actors acting, so there will be that conflict,” he concluded.
