The Federal University of ABC (UFABC) has published Notice 14/2024, offering 210 spots for free lato sensu postgraduate courses in History, Sciences, Education, and Society, in a distance learning format. This specialization course offers a unique opportunity for public school teachers, focusing on professional training and the enhancement of teaching skills.

Course Objective and Workload

The objective of the specialization course is to train educators with degrees in humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, or exact sciences, deepening their knowledge in history, sciences, and their relationships with education and society. The postgraduate course will be entirely online (E-Learning), with a total workload of 360 hours. Activities include theoretical classes, discussion forums, and assessments throughout virtual meetings.

Available Spots and Offering Locations

A total of 210 spots are offered for free specialization courses, distributed among support hubs in São Paulo: Vila Cisper, São João Clímaco, Itapetininga, Cidade Tiradentes, and Boa Esperança. The spots are divided between open competition and affirmative actions for specific groups, such as black people, indigenous people, quilombolas, trans people, and people with disabilities.

Selection Process for Free Courses

The selection process will be based on the time of teaching or school management experience. The classification will be made based on the analysis of supporting documents of work in public educational institutions. Additionally, there are reserved spots for candidates from affirmative actions, such as black people, indigenous people, trans people, and refugees, who must present self-declarations and additional documents at the time of application for the free courses.

Requirements for Application

Candidates for the free postgraduate courses must have a bachelor’s degree in teaching or in the fields of humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, or exact sciences. They must also demonstrate teaching or school management experience in public institutions and have internet access for distance activities. All requested documents must be digitized and submitted in PDF format during the application process.
