“The hospital is collapsed.” This was the alert from the mayor of Parintins, Bi Garcia, when talking about the Jofre Cohen hospital, a reference for treating Covid-19 cases in Parintins. On Thursday night, 14, he was at the health unit and announced emergency measures to combat the advance of the disease in the municipality, one of which was the purchase of an oxygen plant from Germany.
Bi Garcia met with the Secretary of Health of Parintins, Clerton Rodrigues, the President of the City Council of Parintins, Mateus Assayag, and Councilman Telo Pinto. The main agenda of the meeting was to define urgent actions to assist patients hospitalized in the municipality’s hospitals, which is facing a second wave with a significant increase in cases.

The New Plant Will Serve 80 Beds Simultaneously
The mayor of Parintins, Bi Garcia (DEM), purchased an oxygen plant in Germany with a capacity to serve 80 beds simultaneously. The equipment is being transported in an aerial operation and is expected to arrive in the municipality within 48 hours to be installed at the Jofre Cohen Hospital, exclusively for Covid-19 patients.
On Thursday (14), when the oxygen reached the minimum limit in the hospital unit, the City Hall received a donation of 24 cylinders of gas from local businessmen. Today, the special operation to transport another 45 cylinders of 50m3 of medical oxygen has already begun.
