The University of São Paulo (USP) is launching a free course aimed at teachers, titled “Educational Possibilities at the USP Zoology Museum.”
This event is an excellent opportunity for educators at all stages of education to enhance their pedagogical practices. The course will take place from September 27 to 28, 2024, at the USP Zoology Museum, located at Avenida Nazaré, 481, Bairro do Ipiranga, São Paulo – SP.
Detailed Program
On September 27, activities will begin at 9 AM with the opening of the course and presentation of the proposal and team from the Museum.
The morning program includes a lecture on the history of natural history museums, given by Maria Isabel Landim. After a break, participants will explore the importance of biological collections for teaching with Talita Roell. The day will conclude with a visit to the museum’s scientific collections, including fish, birds, and insects.
On September 28, the course begins with a guided visit to the exhibition led by Felipe Alves Elias. The morning program also covers a discussion on heritage, education, and museums, led by Márcia Fernandes Lourenço.
After lunch, participants will have the opportunity to engage in hands-on workshops: a prehistoric puzzle and a diorama, promoted by Felipe Alves Elias and Márcia Fernandes Lourenço, respectively. The course will conclude with a final evaluation.

The course is free and offers 60 spots for teachers and educators from early childhood, basic, and higher education.
