With online classes and current topics ranging from artificial intelligence to sports sociology, the university opens a record number of positions in free courses for those over 18, with selection by lottery.

The University of São Paulo (USP) announced an unmissable opportunity for those looking to enhance their knowledge: the opening of 7,385 positions in free winter courses. The initiative, promoted by the Faculty of Philosophy, Languages and Human Sciences (FFLCH), will offer 92 fully online courses, allowing participation from interested individuals from anywhere in Brazil and abroad.

With classes scheduled to start on July 31, the courses are open to anyone over 18 years old, without the need for prior affiliation with the university. The selection of participants will be done through an electronic lottery, ensuring a democratic access to the knowledge produced at one of the most prestigious educational institutions in Latin America. Registration begins on July 21.

What Are the Courses Offered?

The program is extensive and divided into three main areas: philosophy, human sciences, and linguistics and literature. The topics are current and reflect ongoing research at the university, aiming to broaden dialogue with society.

Among the 92 available courses, notable topics include:

  • Text, Discourse, and Artificial Intelligence
  • Marxism and Climate Change
  • Trans Literature
  • Sports Sociology
  • Ethics and Digital Culture

Who Can Register?

The positions in free courses at USP are open to all interested individuals who meet two basic requirements:

  • Be over 18 years old.
  • Be literate.

It is not necessary to be a student at USP to participate. If the number of applicants exceeds the number of positions, the program will prioritize unemployed individuals, those with low income, persons with disabilities, and minors (provided they meet the minimum age requirement for the modality).

How to Register and How Selection Works?

Registrations are online and organized in blocks, with different deadlines for each group of courses, starting on July 21 and extending until August 4.

  1. Registration: The first step is to create an account on the Apolo System, the USP course platform.
  2. Enrollment: Once registered, just access the FFLCH website, choose the desired course and enroll within the stipulated deadline.
  3. Selection: Selection will be made by automatic electronic lottery. Selected candidates will be notified by email.

Classes will be held live, in three shifts (morning, afternoon, and evening), and students who have at least 75% attendance will receive a certificate of completion issued by USP.

And you, which of these courses interests you the most? Will you take advantage of this chance to study at USP for free? Leave your comment!
