Currently, the government pays, every two months, 50% of the gas cylinder. The proposal is to pay the full amount with the new fuel package

Government members are evaluating the possibility of guaranteeing the periodicity of the gas voucher, since the benefit is only available every two months. Also, parliamentarians plan to double the amount of aid, as the government currently guarantees only 50% of the value of the gas cylinder. So, with the new package of fuels which is being discussed in Congress, the gas voucher will cover 100% of the value of the gas cylinder and will be paid every month.

The increase in the value of the gas voucher will be included in a PEC (Proposal for Amendment to the Constitution), the fuel package, which is awaiting validation in the Senate. The aforementioned PEC also seeks to reinforce the value of the Auxílio Brasil, raising the social assistance floor from R$400 to R$600.

Last Friday, the 24th, the member of the government and rapporteur for the PEC, Senator Fernando Bezerra (MDB-PE), forecast an expenditure of R$ 23,1 billion for the two aids, with R$ 21,6 billion destined for Brazil Aid and R$ 1,5 billion for the gas voucher, if the proposed fuel package is approved.

Fernando also estimated a cost of approximately R$ 34,8 billion in the planned changes to benefits that the government makes available to the population, with the approval of the fuel package. Thus, this estimated value may rise as adjustments are made to government aid.

In the economic sphere, Fernando's forecast, this Monday, the 27th, revolved around a cost of approximately R$ 37 billion, excluding the spending ceiling, a norm that limits the growth of expenses to the variation in inflation.

The fuel package, which is being discussed in Congress, also includes a truck driver's allowance of around R$ 1 and compensation to States for free public transport for the elderly and also for the loss in revenue with the setting of the ICMS rate. on ethanol and other fuels by 12%. If approved, the fuel package could change several factors in the benefits provided by the government, making them more profitable for its users.
