Volkswagen announced on Tuesday, April 16, that it will resume the second shift at its factory in São José dos Pinhais, in the Curitiba region, which has been halted for about 2 years. Stay tuned to the requirements and the registration deadline!
In the first stage, 500 employees who were on lay-off (temporary suspension of contract) will return to work starting next Monday (22). The other 60 are expected to be hired between May and June. The announcement was made by the president of Volkswagen in Latin America, Pablo Di Si, during the launch of the brand’s first digital dealership in Curitiba.
The goal of the expansion in Paraná is to increase the production of the newly launched T-Cross, the first compact SUV from the automaker. According to the vice president of sales and marketing of the automaker in Brazil, Gustavo Schmidt, more projects may come to the state. “The hiring gives us a reason to continue investing in the state of Paraná. The T-Cross is the first of a wave of SUVs that we want to manufacture in the Americas region; hopefully, more projects will come to Paraná in the future.”

The investment in the São José plant is linked to the economic recovery in the country. The president of the company, Pablo Di Si, considers the performance of the sector in the last two years to be positive, with double-digit growth year-on-year. And the result is repeating now in 2019. However, according to the executive of the multinational, the warning sign is on. With the crisis in Argentina, the automaker will reduce production in the neighboring country and also imports from Brazil. On the other hand, it will expand the industrial plant, aiming for a future economic recovery. Therefore, internally, the company is preparing to increase productivity by investing in cutting-edge technologies.
