Brazil’s Offshore Wind Energy Potential Worth $1 Trillion Stalled by Long-Delayed Agreement
The new plant in Bahia demonstrates Voltalia’s ability to replicate a successful business model that has made the 2.4 gigawatt Serra Branca cluster the largest wind and solar cluster in the world.
This strategy involves developing a large and competitive set of projects in the same location, aiming to retain some projects and sell others, with all projects benefiting from economies of scale. The estimated total potential for Canudos is 1 gigawatt.
Bahia Breaking Records and New Plant
“The good winds are always bringing positive news to Bahia. We have attracted a new park that will generate jobs and income for the Bahian people. Wind energy is already the second source of energy in Brazil, and our state has contributed to the growth of this energy in the country. According to the National Electric System Operator (ONS), on September 30, the Northeast reached a record in wind generation, and Bahia was responsible for 31% of the energy generated,” declared Leão.
