With Goals Set for the Next Decade, Volvo Signs Contract with Swiss Company Holcim for the Supply of 1,000 Electric Trucks, Marking a Historic Achievement for Both Companies.
Volvo, a renowned manufacturer of commercial vehicles, announced the signing of the largest electric truck supply contract in its history. In partnership with Swiss construction company Holcim, the Swedish firm will supply a total of 1,000 electric trucks over the next seven years. This agreement represents a significant milestone for Volvo Trucks, whose goal is to shift up to 50% of its truck sales to electric traction by the end of the decade.
Delivery of the First Electric Trucks and Volvo Factories Spread Around the World
The first batch, consisting of 130 Volvo FH and FM electric trucks, will be delivered to the customer between the fourth quarter of this year and the end of 2024.
The exact cost of this contract has not been disclosed, but Holcim, with its divisions in France, Germany, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom, will be the first to receive these electric vehicles from Volvo.

Volvo Trucks already manufactures electric trucks in three different locations: Sweden, France, and the United States.
Additionally, in the third quarter of this year, a new facility in Belgium will go into operation. All Volvo trucks provided under the contract with Holcim will be battery-powered electric vehicles.
Although Volvo Trucks is considering the construction of hydrogen fuel cell trucks, this is likely to be realized on a larger scale only in the second half of this decade.
