Currently, the company holds interests in nine exploration licenses for oil fields, four of which as operator. Wintershall Dea is thoroughly evaluating new opportunities for future growth.

In 2018, Wintershall Dea received seven exploration licenses. The company received two additional offshore blocks along with its partners Repsol and Chevron in October 2019.
In the same year, Wintershall Dea partnered with Murphy Oil in its three exploratory offshore blocks in Potiguar. Wintershall Dea remains the operator with a 70% interest.
Projects of Wintershall Dea in Brazil
The licenses held by Wintershall Dea in Brazil are all located offshore in the four basins of Campos, Santos, Ceará, and Potiguar. The company operates one license in the Ceará Basin and three in the Potiguar Basin, both on the northern coastline of the country. In addition to these, it holds interests in five oil and gas fields in the Campos and Santos Basins, located on the southeastern coast.
