The news of the reopening of some important economies around the world increases the consumption outlook, which, along with production cuts made by some countries, raises the prices of black gold in the international market. There have already been five consecutive sessions of rising oil prices, and the appreciation continues this Wednesday (06).
According to Bruno Madruga, partner at Monte Bravo Investimentos, during the current streak of gains, the prices of Brent, a reference in Europe and Asia, have already appreciated by about 55%. The WTI oil from New York has risen by 99%.
It is worth noting that not long ago, the May contracts had closed in the negative, meaning producers were paying to remove the oil, which is expensive to store.
After several consecutive reductions in the prices of diesel and regular gasoline at refineries, Petrobras has room to increase prices.
However, Petrobras has been cautious with the pass-through, as fluctuations have been even more extreme during the pandemic. Moreover, it takes some time for the price of oil to reach cost.
