In the Last Two Decades, the Cultivation Area Has Doubled Even More Due to High Demand, Since Soybean Can Be Consumed by Both Humans and Animals. The Market Exported About US$ 38.628 Billion in 2021.
Being the main product cultivated in the country, the next soybean harvest comes with a production expectation for the oilseed of about 152.7 million tons, 22.2% higher than the 2021/2022 harvest. This development of the crops is still considered satisfactory in a good part of the regions, with precipitation occurring in good volume and good periodicity.
In Brazil, this great expansion began in the mid-1970s, containing 18% to 20% oil and meal, which represents 79% with the protein content of 45%.

This soybean production has doubled in the last 20 years. When compared to the numbers of other soybean-producing countries, this Brazilian production is greater than the 18.4 million tons of Chinese production; greater than the 51 million tons produced in Argentina; and greater than the 112.549 million tons produced by the USA.
According to data produced by the Embrapa Soybean, there is an estimate of a global soybean production of over 355.588 million tons – data provided by USDA/PSD (11/2022), with Brazil being responsible for over 123.829 million of those tons – data released by CONAB in May 2022. Thus, our Brazilian harvest accounts for nearly 35% of all soybean produced in the world.
Although production seems quite large – 124.047.8 million tons, according to CONAB – it is worth noting that Brazil is one of the strongest soybean exporters, with 89.5 million tons, with China as one of the main importers.
One of the most important roles in this progress of soybean in Brazil should still be credited to the various programs for genetic improvement.
According to USDA data, one of the largest shares of soybean produced by Brazil is still destined for exports, being responsible for a large part of the revenue in Brazilian agribusiness. This leadership is culturally linked to its versatility and the ideas and chains of agribusiness, boosting the country’s GDP.
