AD Ports Group and CMA CGM Group Join Forces in Port Alliance for Biodiversity Conservation with Pilot Project of Biohut Modules.
Khalifa Port, located in the United Arab Emirates, is the target of a new partnership between the port operator AD Ports Group and the French shipping group CMA CGM Group, along with Ecocean. This collaboration aims to promote aquatic biodiversity at Khalifa Port by installing 48 Biohuts to create a vibrant ecosystem environmental conditions.
Khalifa Port is preparing to welcome the Biohuts, underwater structures designed to host marine life and promote biodiversity in coastal and port areas. Made from non-toxic and eco-friendly materials, these modular cages provide a safe refuge for various marine species, contributing to the recovery of damaged coastal ecosystems. The partnership between the companies is crucial for revitalizing the marine ecosystem and fostering a more sustainable environment at Khalifa Port.
Khalifa Port’s Commitment to Biodiversity Conservation
These structures will be deployed in specific areas of Khalifa Port where marine life needs support and regeneration. Scheduled for installation in the first quarter of 2024 at the next CMA CGM terminal, this pilot project spans five years and includes a comprehensive monitoring phase.
