Ferbasa also issued a relevant fact explaining that the acquisition of the volume of 80MW of average wind power does not represent an increase in productive capacity, but rather a strategy for reducing energy costs in its contract portfolio.

AES Brazil further informed that the wind power park will be developed at the Cajuína Wind Complex, in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, an area where the company is already establishing its wind cluster, with construction expected to begin in 2021.

“This step reinforces the company’s growth and diversification strategy in its wind power portfolio through the development of projects from sources complementary to hydropower and with long-term contracts, aiming to create value for shareholders,” stated AES Brazil in the announcement.

AES Brazil has been investing in Brazil for over 20 years and is a 100% renewable electricity generator in the country. The company stated that it aims to increase its efforts in wind and solar energy in the coming years.
