Arauco Is Starting the Construction of a New Factory in Inocência, with Earthworks Already Underway. The Project Promises to Generate Thousands of Jobs, Strengthen the Regional Economy, and Include Sustainability Measures.

Arauco, a renowned Chilean company in the pulp sector, is moving forward with the ambitious Sucuriú Project in Inocência, announcing the start of earthworks for the construction of a new factory in the region. This venture promises not only to transform the local economic landscape but also to provide numerous job opportunities for the community.

Preparations for Arauco’s New Factory and Generation of Many Job Opportunities

The movement for the Sucuriú Project began with the arrival of representatives from Arauco, along with contractors MLC Infra Construção and Construtora Aterpa, to initiate the preparations.

The initial phase involves the earthworks of the area, a complex operation that is expected to extend throughout the next year.

Located approximately 50 km from Inocência, the new factory will not only create numerous direct job opportunities during its construction, scheduled to begin at the end of next year, but will also positively impact the local economy in the long term.

With estimates of employing up to 12,000 workers at the peak of construction, the project aims to prioritize the hiring of local labor, totaling around 1,800 job opportunities just in the initial phase.

Strategic Partnerships and Sustainable Development Are the Focuses of the Company

Arauco has demonstrated its commitment by recently obtaining the installation license for the factory.

The company has established strategic partnerships with Sebrae, Sesi, and the local government to train and qualify both the labor force and regional suppliers, thereby strengthening the local economy comprehensively.

Recent meetings between Arauco representatives, local authorities, and community members highlighted the importance of ensuring public safety throughout all phases of the project.

The company has also committed to maintaining accommodations in the work area, thus minimizing the impact on the daily routines of local residents.

With a robust investment of R$ 28 billion, the project includes the construction of two production plants, with the first scheduled to start producing 2.5 million tons of bleached pulp annually.

This advancement marks not only a milestone in Arauco’s expansion in Brazil but also a catalyst for the economic growth of Inocência, elevating its position from 48th to one of the leading industrial hubs in the State.

Prospects for the Industrial Development of Inocência

Carlos Altimiras, CEO of Arauco in Brazil, expressed his satisfaction with the progress of the Sucuriú Project, highlighting the crucial role of partnerships with local government and other entities in realizing this venture.

Mayor Antonio Angelo also emphasized the mutual commitment to ensuring that development occurs sustainably and inclusively for the entire community.

In addition to the factory construction, the state government announced additional investments in infrastructure for Inocência, including creating a new landing strip, building housing, and improving sanitation and public safety, thus preparing the region for significant population growth in the coming years.
