Minas Gerais Government Opens More Than 13 Thousand Slots in Free Technical Courses in 230 Municipalities. Learn How to Enroll and What the Most Sought-After Programs Are.

With the aim of expanding access to professional education and meeting labor market needs, the Minas Gerais Government announced the opening of more than 13 thousand slots in free technical courses.

The initiative, coordinated by the State Department of Education (SEE/MG), is present in 322 state schools, distributed across 230 municipalities in Minas Gerais, and encompasses a wide variety of programs.

In this second semester of 2025, the state will offer more than 50 options of technical courses focused on employability and regional development.

This action strengthens public policy for educational inclusion and aims to prepare young people for the challenges of the professional world in a practical and effective manner.

In addition to concurrent and sequential courses to high school, integrated courses with Full-Time Professional High School (EMTI Professional) are also available.

This modality combines regular education and technical training from the beginning of the school journey, promoting a more complete educational experience.

Free Technical Courses Meet Different Profiles and Interests

The catalog of offered programs is varied and meets demands from both the public and private sectors. Among the most sought-after free technical courses by students in the state network, stand out:

  • Administration – Youth Entrepreneurship (NEJ)
  • Nursing
  • Informatics
  • Occupational Safety
  • Community Health Agent
  • Human Resources
  • Logistics
  • Marketing
  • Environment
  • Informatics for Internet

These courses have a workload ranging from 800 to 1,200 hours, with an average duration of one and a half years.

Classes are conducted in person and mainly take place in the evening, which facilitates access for students who work or have other commitments during the day.

The general coordinator of Integral and Professional Education at SEE/MG, Carla Torres Dias, emphasizes that “the expansion of the offer of technical courses in state schools reflects our commitment to guarantee young Minas Gerais citizens real opportunities for professional training, contributing to the development of skills geared towards the labor market. It is also a way to reduce disparities in access to professional education, reaching students from different regions of the state.”

Partnership with Sebrae Brings Youth Entrepreneurship into Schools

One of the major highlights this semester is the Technical Course in Administration focused on Youth Entrepreneurship (NEJ).

Resulting from a partnership between SEE/MG and Sebrae, the program is available in 172 classes in both concurrent and sequential modalities to high school.

With an approach focused on student leadership and autonomy, the course relies on active methodologies and promotes the development of entrepreneurial skills.

In addition to stimulating creativity and innovation, the program also prepares young people for the challenges of the real world, encouraging critical thinking and action in different economic and social contexts.

The proposed methodology goes beyond theory and seeks to inspire students to undertake, whether in their own businesses or in projects within their communities.

This training has been gaining more and more relevance and has become one of the favorites among Minas Gerais students.

Where Are the Open Slots Located in Minas Gerais

The opportunities offered by the Minas Gerais Government encompass cities of different sizes and regions. Some of the locations with the highest number of open classes include:

  • Belo Horizonte
  • Sacramento
  • Pará de Minas
  • Poços de Caldas
  • João Monlevade
  • Sete Lagoas
  • Tupaciguara
  • Divinópolis
  • Buritizeiro
  • Pouso Alegre
  • Unaí

These municipalities concentrate state schools equipped to offer quality technical courses, aligned with local and regional needs.

Thus, the proposal goes beyond individual training and also contributes to the economic development of the served communities.

Learn How to Enroll in Free Technical Courses

The enrollment process is simple and straightforward. Interested individuals should directly contact the state school offering the desired course, according to SEE/MG guidelines. Therefore, it is important to check the specific deadlines of each institution.

When the number of applicants exceeds the total available slots, a public lottery is held to ensure selection in a fair and transparent manner.

Thus, all candidates have the same chance of securing a spot, regardless of the order of enrollment.

The courses are free and mainly aimed at high school students from the state network and graduates who wish to expand their professional opportunities through recognized technical qualification.

In case of doubts, interested parties can contact the State Department of Education directly via email: educacaoprofissional@educacao.mg.gov.br. The channel is available to clarify details about the programs, required documentation, and participating schools.
