Atlantic Renewable Energies Conquers 218.5 MW in A-6 Energy Auction and Invests Over R$ 1 Billion in Wind Power in Piauí and Bahia
The company will implement new projects in the municipalities of Tanque Novo and Caetité, in Bahia, and will expand the generation potential of the Lagoa do Barro Wind Complex, operating in Piauí, at a cost to the company of over 1 billion reais. In addition to Atlantic’s investments, the state of Bahia will gain two more wind farms with investments of 2 billion reais from a Norwegian company.
Atlantic Renewable Energies’ participation in the wind power generation sector in 2019 will be even stronger. The company has just secured 218.5 megawatts (MW) of capacity in the A-6 Energy Auction, held last Friday, the 18th, by the National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL). Of the capacity won in the auction, the company sold 218.5 MW.

The result of the auction consolidates Atlantic in the renewable market as a company with a high level of development, with competitive tariffs and keeping pace with the growth of wind energy in Brazil.
According to the Company of Electric Energy Research (EPE), the A-6 Auction recorded 1,541 registered projects, which include hydroelectric, solar, wind, and thermal sources. The supply of the energy contracted in the auction is expected to start in January 2025.
The company’s goal is to provide competitive projects that generate benefits both for the country and for the region where its ventures are located.
“We competed in the A-6 auction against large generators and emerged victorious, which gives us more motivation to continue our work and an opportunity to position ourselves better and better in the wind energy market,” reveals José Roberto de Moraes, CEO of Atlantic.
In recent years, Atlantic has been dedicated to delivering large projects that generate energy from the winds. The expansion of its asset portfolio comes at an excellent time for the company, which has recently completed 10 years of operation.
