Months ago, farmer Eloía Fiber, 27, caught attention on social media by posting a video about the low price paid for onions. In the video, she expressed her frustration about the lack of appreciation for rural work and showed that behind every farm, there is investment, time, and a lot of effort.
The content was her first public video on Instagram and had significant reach. The post surpassed 5.5 million views, nearly 500,000 likes, and gathered thousands of comments. After that, the farmer’s profile quickly grew to 35,500 followers.

In total, she published five videos related to the topic. With this, she realized that the audience was more interested in the agricultural routine than in home content or varied subjects.
Since then, she has frequently appeared in the middle of the fields, phone in hand, showing the daily life of rural production to her followers.
Onion will be maintained, but tobacco cultivation will be paused
Eloía lives in the locality of Florestal, in Chapadão do Lageado, where she works with her husband in the production of onions and tobacco.
She says she grew up on a tobacco farm. However, after marriage, she also started dealing with onions, as her husband worked in this crop.
Now, the couple has decided to pause tobacco cultivation. The last batch sent to the drying shed marked the end of the harvest and also a turning point in the family’s routine.
The decision came because her husband got a job considered more advantageous. At the same time, Eloía began to see the internet as a new work opportunity.
Couple will plant 5 hectares of onions
Despite the pause in tobacco, onions will remain in the family’s planning. According to Eloía, the couple intends to plant 5 hectares of the crop.
The decision also considers the existing infrastructure. Since they have implements and equipment, onion production will remain active.
Even so, tobacco has not been completely ruled out. If necessary, the family can resume planting the following year.
Internet has started to supplement the farmer’s income
What began as a simple record of routine turned into an opportunity. Visibility on social media brought partnerships, new possibilities, and more motivation for Eloía.
According to her, the internet improved her life perspective. Moreover, it allowed her to fulfill personal desires, such as changing her phone and buying items that previously didn’t fit the budget.
The farmer states she is grateful for the opportunities. For her, this new moment represents a form of growth outside the traditional harvest income.
Eloía wants to professionalize as a rural content creator
Even with her good performance in front of the camera, Eloía decided to seek training. She is currently taking a course to improve her content and deliver more prepared materials.
The goal is to enhance promotions, partnerships with agricultural businesses, and potential work with larger agro-related brands.
She also states that recording her routine on the farm has become something she loves to do. During the day, she works and documents daily life. At night, she edits and publishes the videos.
Routine in the field gained a new role on social media
Eloía’s story shows how the internet expanded the visibility of a farmer who already lived off the land.
Previously, the routine was focused on farming. Now, besides onion production, she also shares behind-the-scenes, challenges, and achievements of rural life.
With simplicity, Eloía found in “digital agro” a way to speak to thousands of people. According to herself, it was on this path that she managed to find herself.
