Canoas City Hall and SENAI Offer Free Course with Vacancies in the Construction Sector, Combining Professional Training with the Reconstruction of Schools Affected by Floods in the Municipality.

To boost the recovery of areas affected by floods and at the same time prepare residents for the job market, Canoas City Hall, in partnership with SENAI-RS, is offering vacancies for a free qualification course in the construction sector. The classes will focus on practical skills and will be held in municipal public schools that also need repairs. Registrations are already open and will continue indefinitely.

Who Can Participate in the Free Course?

The free course is aimed at residents of Canoas who wish to professionalize in the construction sector, increasing their chances of entering the job market.

There is no requirement for prior experience, and vacancies will be filled according to demand, with classes being formed over the coming months.

To register, simply attend the headquarters of the Department of Economic Development and Innovation (SMDEI), located at Rua Doutor Barcelos, 969, from Monday to Friday, from 9 AM to 5 PM. The required documents are:

  • ID
  • Tax ID
  • Request for free enrollment (provided on-site by SENAI)

What Does the Construction Course Offer?

The training covers essential activities for the construction sector, with practical and theoretical classes. Among the content are:

  • Brickwork repairs
  • Building painting
  • Residential plumbing maintenance
  • Repair of ceramic coatings
  • Repair of residential electrical installations
  • Roof repairs
  • Maintenance of wooden structures and frames

Practical classes will take place directly in five municipal schools chosen by the Department of Education, which will simultaneously serve as learning and reconstruction spaces.

Who Are the Responsible Parties for the Free Course?

The pedagogical and technical aspects will be handled by SENAI-RS, which will be responsible for selecting instructors, providing teaching materials, and issuing certificates of completion. Canoas City Hall will be in charge of:

  • Identifying participants
  • Monitoring student performance
  • Ensuring the necessary structure for classes, including transportation and equipment

The free course is part of the SENAI Community Reconstruction and Training Program, which aims to promote employability and contribute to the economic recovery of regions affected by natural disasters.

Why Is This Initiative Important for the City?

In addition to generating job and income opportunities, the training has a direct impact on the reconstruction of municipal infrastructure, especially in damaged schools.

The combination of teaching and practice allows students to learn from real situations while contributing to improvements in the city.

The partnership between Canoas City Hall and SENAI-RS is valid for 12 months, with the possibility of extension according to demand. The proposal is flexible: new classes will be opened based on the number of interested individuals and the need for maintenance in schools.

How Can the Free Course Change Participants’ Lives?

Upon completing the free course, students will be qualified to work in various roles within the construction sector — a field with high demand, especially during reconstruction periods.

With a recognized certificate and practical experience on their resumes, graduates will have better chances of securing jobs in public or private construction sites.

Furthermore, participants will be directly contributing to the city’s reconstruction, becoming agents of change both in their own lives and within the community.

For those seeking an opportunity to qualify for free and also partake in the reconstruction of Canoas, this is the ideal chance.

The initiative combines solidarity, professional training, and job creation — essential pillars for rebuilding the city with dignity and development.
