Frutopia Beer from Paraná Wins Brazil Beer Cup 2025 with Fruit and Brazilian Wood Flavors, Earning Best of Show Award.

Frutopia from Paraná Takes the Title of Best in Brazil in 2025

A craft beer from Paraná has claimed the top spot in the national podium. The Frutopia, produced in partnership between Yellow Bird Brewery from Pinhais (PR) and Hespanha Brewery from Paranaguá (PR), was elected the best beer in Brazil at the 5th edition of the Brazil Beer Cup, promoted by the Brazilian Association of Craft Beer (Abracerva).

The announcement was made on the night of Thursday (23), in a ceremony that awarded the most innovative creations in the country.

The highlight of Frutopia, winner of the “Best of Show” category, lies in the bold combination of blackberry and strawberry pulps with natural juices of tangerine and lemon, aged in Brazilian wood.

The result delighted the judges and reinforced the strength of beer production in Paraná in the national scene.

Tropical Flavor and Innovation Define the Best Beer in Brazil

Classified as a Brazilian Wood and Barrel Aged Sour Beer, Frutopia represents the creativity of independent Brazilian breweries.

The style uses national woods for aging, which imparts unique and complex notes to the drink.

Its base is a Catharina Sour, a genuinely Brazilian style that combines acidity and freshness. During the maturation process, the beer received amburana wood chips, a native tree that adds characteristic woody aroma and flavor.

This union of tropical fruits with a touch of wood enchanted the evaluators and secured gold for Paraná.

Brazil Beer Cup: A Competition Among the Best Labels in the Country

In its fifth edition, the Brazil Beer Cup traveled through all regions of Brazil, gathering 100 judges and 823 labels entered from 22 states and the Federal District.

The event, promoted by Abracerva, is considered the largest national competition in the craft sector.

Out of the beers evaluated, 277 were awarded medals in the regional stages with gold, silver, and bronze. In the grand final, only the best labels were re-evaluated to define the national champions.

The three beers with the highest overall scores received the title “Best of Show”, which attests to excellence and originality in production.

National Podium Values Brazilian Ingredients

In addition to Frutopia, two other beers also made it to the national podium. The Pilsen with Coffee from Cervejaria Louvada in Cuiabá (MT) won the silver medal with a recipe that includes coffee from the Catuaí Vermelho variety, known for its sweet and fruity flavor.

The bronze went to Kaptain Lisa from Cervejaria Stannis in Jaraguá do Sul (SC), a dark and full-bodied beer of the Adambier style, with 9% alcohol content.

According to Gilberto Tarantino, president of Abracerva, the result shows the potential of national ingredients in creating unique beverages:

“In all regions, at least one of the main awardees used fruit, wood, or another element from our gastronomic culture. The same is happening now in the final stage, with amburana and coffee,” he highlighted.

Regions of Brazil Show Diversity and Brewing Talent

Each region of the country held its own stage of the competition, electing its local highlights. In the Central-West, Hop Berry from Hop Capital Beer (DF) took the gold.

In the Northeast, the title went to the English Serelepe Brasileira from Caatinga Rocks (AL). The North awarded Puro Malte from Curiango Brew (TO).

In the South, Cervejaria 277 Craft Beer (PR) also stood out with Quadruppel Amburana, showcasing Paraná’s strength in the brewing scene.

The Southeast, in turn, had as regional champion the Barnia Cyber-Fruit Kvass from Bragança Paulista (SP).

Frutopia Reinforces Paraná’s Protagonism in the Brewing Scene

With the achievement of the Best of Show title, Frutopia consolidates Paraná as one of the main hubs of craft beer in Brazil.

The combination of innovation, local ingredients, and aging techniques with Brazilian wood demonstrates how the sector is maturing and gaining international recognition.

More than just an award, Frutopia’s success symbolizes the creative potential of regional breweries and the appreciation of the country’s natural riches—ingredients that make Brazilian beer one of the most diverse and promising in the world.
