BMW entered 2026 ready to turn the tables with an avalanche of launches that mix new electric vehicles, refreshed SUVs, transitioning sedans, and sports cars, in an offensive that accelerates the Neue Klasse era and could reshape the global premium competition.
This model not only offers a smooth and comfortable driving experience but also stands out for its economical consumption, an essential feature in times of rising fuel prices.
Why the Onix Plus Shines in 2024?
In a market where price and efficiency are decisive, the Chevrolet Onix Plus stands out in 2024 for offering exactly what Brazilian consumers are looking for.
Visually appealing and surprisingly economical, it is a sedan that delivers a more efficient drive while providing comfort and safety. These attributes are crucial for those seeking a reliable vehicle for everyday use.
According to experts, the Onix Plus is ideal for those who want to save without sacrificing comfort and technology. With either a 1.0 Turbo or 1.0 Naturally Aspirated engine, the sedan especially shines in fuel economy, making it a smart choice for those looking to reduce transportation costs.
| Version | Engine | Estimated Price (Brazil) | Estimated Price (Europe) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Onix Plus LT | 1.0 Turbo | R$ 97,000 | € 17,800 |
| Onix Plus LTZ | 1.0 Turbo | R$ 104,000 | € 19,000 |
| Onix Plus Premier | 1.0 Turbo | R$ 112,000 | € 20,500 |
Fierce Competition: Who Are the Rivals of The Model?
Despite the success of the Onix Plus, it is not alone in the race for the hearts of Brazilian drivers. Models like Fiat Cronos, Toyota Corolla, Volkswagen Virtus, and Hyundai HB20S are its main competitors, each bringing its own advantages.
The Fiat Cronos, for example, offers a competitive price, mainly due to the exemption from import tariffs from Argentina.
However, the lack of hybrid versions may be a downside for those seeking more sustainable alternatives. On the other hand, the Toyota Corolla, famous for its hybrid versions, stands out for its fuel economy, but its high price can deter potential buyers.
The Volkswagen Virtus offers a modern design and ample interior space, but its price is somewhat higher compared to the Onix Plus. The Hyundai HB20S, in turn, draws attention for its sporty design and a wide range of features, although its interior space is somewhat more limited.

The Differential: Fuel Economy That Impresses
According to data from Inmetro, the Chevrolet Onix Plus is one of the most economical sedans of 2024. The 1.0 Naturally Aspirated model, for instance, achieves an incredible 17.7 km/l with gasoline on the highway, placing it ahead of many competitors. The version with the 1.0 Turbo engine also offers excellent economy, with 16.9 km/l on the highway with gasoline.
Performance Comparison: How Does The Onix Plus Compare Against Its Rivals?
To better understand the positioning of the Onix Plus in the market, it is essential to compare it with its main rivals. The Onix Plus stands out in fuel consumption, especially in urban and highway routes.
In terms of technology, it offers a MyLink multimedia system, Wi-Fi connection, and wireless phone charger, along with the OnStar security and connectivity system, features that increase its appeal among consumers.
However, the Onix Plus does have some disadvantages compared to its competitors. The interior space, for example, is good, but the 469-liter trunk is smaller than some rivals, such as the Fiat Cronos, which offers 525 liters. Additionally, the engine of the Onix Plus, while efficient, is not the most powerful in its class, especially when compared to the Hyundai HB20S.
Changes In Consumer Preferences: What Is The Impact On The Onix Plus?
The Brazilian automotive market is constantly evolving, with a growing demand for SUVs and hybrid vehicles. Nevertheless, the Onix Plus has managed to remain relevant, thanks to its efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Consumer preferences are changing, but the Onix Plus seems well-positioned to continue attracting a loyal audience, especially those who value fuel economy and a robust technological package.
Will the Chevrolet Onix Plus be able to maintain its prominent position in such a dynamic market? The upcoming technological innovations and market strategies will certainly be decisive for the future of this iconic sedan. As electric and hybrid vehicles advance, the Onix Plus will have to adapt to remain competitive.
