The Galaxy Battleship, Geely’s Electrified SUV, Debuts First in China. It Features a Armored Battery, Performs Advanced Maneuvers, and Can Float on Water with the Help of Artificial Intelligence.

The Chinese manufacturer Geely revealed on Thursday (24), during the Shanghai Auto Show, an electrified SUV that promises to break the standards of off-road mobility. Named Galaxy Cruiser and internationally translated as Galaxy Battleship, the model can float on water for up to two hours and boasts an impressive range of advanced technologies.

The SUV features a propulsion system assisted by artificial intelligence and offers breathtaking maneuvers, such as 360° spins, lateral movement, and even driving with a flat tire.

Design Focused on Durability: Protection Against Water, Impacts, and Even Bullets

The safety of the Galaxy Battleship is a highlight of the project. Geely equipped the vehicle with an armored battery, protected by materials resistant to fire, explosions, and extreme impacts.

This structure allows the SUV to be utilized in rugged terrain, floods, and river crossings with much more safety and robustness.

In “boat” mode, the Galaxy Battleship can reach speeds of up to 8.5 km/h on water, navigating with the help of integrated radar and sonar — features that help detect submerged obstacles and facilitate crossings in hard-to-reach places.

With this innovation, Geely follows the trend of amphibious vehicles presented last year by BYD, with the U8 model.

Without yet revealing the final powertrain, Geely stated that the SUV will feature an intelligent system to switch between three modes: electric, hybrid, and range extender.

The onboard artificial intelligence will be responsible for assessing the environment and automatically activating the most efficient type of propulsion.

In addition, the four-wheel drive will feature algorithms that enable maneuvers previously exclusive to specialized vehicles.

China Will Be the First Market to Receive Geely’s SUV

Geely has not yet announced the production start date for the Galaxy Battleship, but has confirmed that the model will initially debut in the Chinese market.

The expectation is that the SUV will reinforce the brand’s positioning as a reference in automotive innovation, directly competing with names like BYD and expanding the presence of the Chinese industry in the futuristic and multifunctional vehicle segment.
