Forging a Partnership Beyond the Formula 1 Tracks, Ford and Red Bull Are Designing a Giant Electric Car in Aerodynamics and Performance
Ford and Red Bull have teamed up once again, beyond the Formula 1 tracks, to jointly develop their electric car. According to Ford’s CEO, Jim Farley, the companies are working together to produce a Red Bull Ford, creating an electric vehicle developed alongside the 2022 Formula 1 Constructors’ Championship team.
For Red Bull’s part, it will be responsible for all the aerodynamic performance of the electric car in partnership with Ford, meaning the new electric car will have performance on par with Formula 1 cars!
According to Jim: “Recently, I was reviewing what is probably our most important EV, strategically speaking, and I turned to my skunkworks team that is developing this in secret and asked: ‘Hey, who is handling the aerodynamics?’ And they replied: ‘It’s Red Bull from Formula 1.’”

Suspense in the Air
Despite the news that a new electric car from Red Bull and Ford is on the way, the executive did not reveal further details about the partnership between the companies, which has complicated all speculations about Ford’s project. According to Motor Trend, the electric car from Ford and Red Bull could be anything from a Mustang, Coupe, to an electric Ranger.
This is not the first time Red Bull has participated in car projects, as the company was involved in the execution of the Aston Martin Valkyrie, which was made in partnership with one of the greatest engineers in F1 history, Adrian Newey.
This agreement between Ford and Red Bull for electric car production is expected to commence in 2026, as soon as the new technical engine regulations come into effect. The duration of the agreement could last until 2030.
