With Over R$ 150 Million Invested, The Bridge Over The São Francisco River Will End Precarious Crossings, Boost The Economy, And Transform Northern Minas. A Historic Milestone That Unites Progress And Sustainability.
Few works in Brazil carry such expressive potential for impact as this one.
A multimillion-dollar investment, a monumental project and the promise to change the lives of thousands of people in Northern Minas Gerais.
But what exactly is behind this construction that has been gaining prominence in the headlines? The answer goes far beyond what you imagine.
-
It’s not a 3D printer: an inventor from Pará created a construction robot that ejects reinforced concrete into molds and builds an entire house at once, reduces labor by 50%, saves 20% on cost, and is already negotiating over 1,000 units across Brazil.
-
Two residential towers in Milan were covered with 900 trees and 20 thousand plants on the balconies, together equivalent to 2 hectares of suspended forest in the middle of the city, and have already inspired projects on 5 continents.
-
The architect David Fisher designed an 80-story skyscraper in Dubai where each floor rotates 360 degrees independently, wind turbines between the floors generate energy, and the building constantly changes shape.

An engineer explains why kitchen drains should use reinforced-series PVC piping; the gray piping withstands effluents up to 70°C from the machine and boiling water in the sink, resists impact better, and prevents cracks and problems that can arise in 2 or 3 years.
Last Friday, December 13, the government of Minas Gerais took a crucial step by issuing the order to resume construction of the bridge over the São Francisco River.
This monumental construction, which will connect the cities of Manga and Matias Cardoso, promises to transform logistics, the economy, and daily life in the region.
An Ambitious Project
With an estimated cost of over R$ 150 million, the bridge will have 1,120 meters in length and 13.8 meters in width.
According to the Vice Governor of Minas Gerais, Professor Mateus Simões, the project is much more than a physical connection between two cities.
“This bridge will create a new axis of connection between Montes Claros and Brasília, transforming logistics and the economy of Northern Minas”, he highlighted.
Another important aspect is the positive environmental impact of the project.
The new bridge will eliminate the need for crossings by ferries and boats, which caused damage to the São Francisco River and inconveniences to local residents.
The project also includes the improvement of access roads to the bridge, enhancing safety and efficiency in transportation in the region.
Source of Resources and Previous Obstacles
The resources for construction come from the reparation agreement signed with the mining company Vale, due to the dam collapse in Brumadinho in 2019.
This agreement ensured important funds for various projects in the state, including this monumental bridge.
However, the path to resuming construction was not simple. Activities were halted due to the contract termination with the initially responsible construction company for the project.
According to the state government, the company was dismissed for “inability to advance with the services”.
The deadlock was resolved with the hiring of the PRSF consortium, formed by the companies S. A. Paulista de Construções e Comércio, Azevedo e Travassos Infraestrutura Ltda., and Benito Roggio y Hijos Sociedad Anónima from Argentina.
Economic and Social Impacts
The bridge represents not just a mobility solution. Its impact should directly reflect on the regional economy, facilitating the flow of products and attracting new investments.
With a faster connection between Montes Claros and Brasília, local producers will have the opportunity to access broader markets, while tourism may gain new momentum.
Moreover, there is a forecast for the generation of direct and indirect jobs during the construction phase, bringing economic relief to a region that has historically faced socioeconomic difficulties.
When Should Construction Start
According to the government, the forecast is for the construction to begin after the rainy season, in 2025.
The timing of this decision aims to avoid delays and ensure that weather conditions favor the progress of the work.
Reflections on Sustainability
Another highlight is the reduction of environmental impact.
Without the crossings of ferries and boats, the São Francisco River will suffer less interference in its ecosystem.
This concern reinforces the project’s commitment to environmental preservation, ensuring that progress is achieved sustainably.
A Historic Milestone for The Region
The bridge over the São Francisco River is not just an infrastructure project. For the residents of Manga and Matias Cardoso, it symbolizes the end of an era of isolation and difficulties.
Crossing the river without relying on ferries will represent more than convenience: it will be a step towards modernity.
