New phase of the voluntary resignation plan should remain open until the end of the year, targeting employees of units that will be closed and strengthening the financial restructuring of Correios
Up to 7,000 Correios employees may leave the state company through a new Correios PDV, expected to be launched in the coming weeks and remain open until the end of this year. According to O Globo, the plan aims at employees of units that will be closed during the company’s restructuring.

New Correios PDV targets units that will be closed
The new phase of the voluntary resignation plan comes after the first edition fell short of the target set by the company.
Between February and March, just over 3,000 employees joined the program, a number far from the initially planned 10,000 layoffs.

The Correios board sought to reduce about 12% of the workforce by 2026. The measure is part of a set of actions designed to try to balance the state company’s accounts.
Restructuring plans to close a thousand service points
The Correios restructuring plan foresees the closure of a thousand service points, including agencies and storage centers.
In this scenario, reducing personnel expenses is considered a central part of the company’s financial recovery.
If the state company reaches the total layoff target planned by 2027, the estimated savings is approximately R$ 1.4 billion.
The management’s intention is to achieve around 15,000 voluntary departures over the restructuring period.
Plan was linked to a R$ 12 billion loan
The restructuring was announced at the end of 2025 as a counterpart for obtaining a R$ 12 billion loan granted by private banks, guaranteed by the Union.
The financial operation was articulated to prevent the worsening of the state company’s cash crisis. The Postal Service ended 2025 with a loss of R$ 8.5 billion, a negative result more than three times higher than recorded the previous year.
Conditions of the new stage are still under discussion
Even after the below-target adherence in the first edition, the president of the Postal Service, Emmanoel Rondon, stated that the result was within the scenario considered viable by the company.
According to him, the company achieved 40% of the projected savings with the PDV and foresees a payback of five months.
The details of the new stage are still being discussed with the Secretariat for Coordination and Governance of State Companies, linked to the Ministry of Management.
The trend is that the conditions offered to workers will not be more advantageous than those of the previous edition.
