Honda’s mid-size sedan combines 2.0 flex engine, CVT transmission, spacious trunk, and competitive price among used cars, while vying for the attention of those comparing Civic, Corolla, and Sentra in search of comfort, interior space, and well-known mechanics in the current Brazilian market.

The Honda Civic Sedan EX 2.0 Flex automatic 2020 remains among the most sought-after options for those looking for a used mid-size sedan with good interior space, well-known mechanics, and a price below newer models in the same category.

In the most recent reference found, the version appears in the Fipe Table of June 2026 for R$ 118,114, a value lower than the Nissan Sentra Exclusive 2.0 2023, priced at R$ 128,362 in the same month.

Alongside this comparison, the Civic also approaches the Toyota Corolla XEi 2.0 2020, one of the main direct rivals among the mid-size sedans available in the used car market.

For the same June 2026 reference, however, the Honda does not appear cheaper than the Corolla: the XEi 2020 was priced at R$ 116,326, a small difference, but enough to place the Toyota below the Civic EX.

Within this price range, the Civic EX 2020 gains strength by offering mid-size sedan stature in a market where compact SUVs and more equipped hatches often approach or exceed values above R$ 120,000.

This configuration preserves relevant comfort and convenience items but avoids the turbo engine used in the top-of-the-line, a choice that may interest buyers seeking simpler mechanics and more predictable maintenance.

In practice, the set makes the model an alternative for those who want more space, superior finish, and mid-size sedan behavior without migrating to new vehicles of smaller categories and similar prices.

Still, the Fipe value does not necessarily represent the final purchase price, as the state of conservation, mileage, maintenance history, region, and local demand can alter the negotiation of each unit.

Civic’s 2.0 flex engine prioritizes known maintenance

Although the turbo delivers superior performance, the 2.0 naturally aspirated engine tends to favor the EX among buyers who prioritize technical simplicity, maintenance availability, and predictability in prolonged use.

In terms of transmission, the CVT works with gear simulation to smooth accelerations and reduce RPM fluctuations, a feature that favors more linear driving in urban and highway routes.

In long-distance travel, this behavior helps keep the car comfortable for occupants, while in daily traffic, the progressive operation matches the family-oriented proposal of Honda’s mid-size sedan.

According to consumption data attributed to the Inmetro standard, the Civic 2.0 CVT records about 10.5 km/l in the city and 13 km/l on the highway with gasoline, numbers compatible with the sedan’s proposal.

When fueled with ethanol, the model presents figures close to 7.2 km/l in urban cycle and 8.9 km/l in highway cycle, an expected variation for a mid-size flex sedan with a naturally aspirated engine.

Even without holding the position of the most economical sedan in the category, the Civic maintains competitiveness when considering size, weight, performance, and the proposal for family or executive use.

Also appearing among the items of the version are the audio system with eight speakers, electric steering, digital air conditioning, steering wheel controls, and cruise control, depending on the configuration and the factory standard of the model year.

In a used vehicle, the presence of these features needs to be accompanied by careful checking, as the functioning of the multimedia center, sensors, power windows, and cooling system may vary depending on conservation and maintenance.

Although it does not deliver the latest active safety features seen in new sedans, the Civic EX retains a modern structural base for its time and maintains a competitive package among used cars.

The analysis, however, should consider each unit individually, as conservation, revision history, any repairs, and provenance count more than the list of equipment in a car with a few years of use.

IPVA Exemption for PcD Depends on State Rule

For part of the PcD public, the value below or close to R$ 120,000 may attract attention because some states adopt their own limits for granting IPVA exemption.

Even so, the rule is not national and may change according to local legislation, type of disability, required documentation, vehicle classification, and limit defined by the Department of Finance of each state.

Thus, the 2020 Civic EX should not be automatically treated as eligible for exemption, even when it appears within a price range considered favorable in some federal units.

The verification needs to occur directly with the responsible state agency, with consultation of the current regulations and the criteria applicable at the time of the tax benefit request.

Without considering possible exemptions, the sedan maintains appeal by combining used car price, medium car size, large trunk, and consolidated mechanical reputation in the same configuration.

In the purchase decision, cautious inspection, recall checks, revision history analysis, and comparison with equivalent units of Corolla and Sentra remain essential steps to reduce risks.
