The PP congressman surprised many by acknowledging that he voted incorrectly on the so-called Shield PEC, a proposal that has generated strong controversy in the National Congress.
Emphatically, he stated that the Shield PEC, passed amid criticism from legal experts and pressure from civil society, was rushed and contained points that were not properly analyzed.
The congressman asserted that, in supporting the Shield PEC, he did not immediately recognize the institutional risks it could pose. According to him, the measure may have turned out to be “more lethal than the very ailment it aimed to address,” in reference to the side effects of the approved text.
