While old buildings are often abandoned, a city in the Netherlands transformed a 1932 locomotive shed into a library with giant curtains and preserved railway memory.

A giant 3,000-ton machine had to be transported nearly 100 km in Australia because, even though it could move on its own, it might destroy its own components along the way.

A port loader larger than many buildings was shipped whole on a vessel, weighed 1,060 tons, was 84.65 meters long, and arrived almost ready to operate.

With a length of 397 meters, the giant ship carries up to 22,000 tons of pipes and assembles a continuous metal line in the ocean that becomes a gas pipeline and oil pipeline on the seabed.
The order for ROVs includes two 200HP XLX-Cs, which were delivered and mobilized at the end of 2022, as well as two 200HP XLX Evo IIs, to be delivered in the second quarter of 2023.
“The four new ROVs, which now share so many common systems and components among themselves, will bring a mix of benefits of smaller footprint through the XLX-C, as well as greater payload from the platform and stability advantages through the XLX Evo II, depending on the task at hand,” said Mark Ainsworth, customer account manager at Forum Energy Technologies in DOF Subsea.
The company emphasized that it is pleased to continue supporting DOF’s offshore operations with its technologies throughout 2023.
The representative of Forum concluded by reinforcing that he hopes the new contract for the remote vehicles can contribute to the company’s business portfolio.
Forum Energy Technologies Highlights That the Technology of the New ROVs Has Been Redesigned for the New Contract with the Company
Forum Energy Technologies revealed that the hydraulic systems of the XLX Evo II have been redesigned according to this contract and now share a much larger number of common components with the XLX-Cs.
This allows for even greater quality of the equipment for the commonality of parts and subsequent availability.
All ROVs that will be used by DOF Subsea in its offshore operations were built in the United Kingdom in Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire.
Ingve Osberg, senior vice president of remote systems at DOF Subsea, celebrated the new contract with Forum Energy Technologies.
“We have over 20 years of experience working with FET people and equipment, and we rely on the quality of the products, equipment reliability, and the high level of support focus that this long-standing relationship brings us,” he said.
Now, DOF Subsea will leverage the cutting-edge technology of its new ROVs for its future offshore projects.
