The Selection Phase for Up to 20 Projects, Which Will Participate in the Second Stage of Petrobras’s Selection Process, Starts Now
More than 250 projects from 21 states were submitted to the first call of the Petrobras Connections for Innovation program, held in partnership with Sebrae. Startups and innovative companies from all regions of Brazil submitted proposals. As the state-owned company has new latent projects in Brazil, this could be a great opportunity.
According to the Executive Manager of Petrobras Research Center (Cenpes), Orlando Ribeiro, the number of submissions is very significant for a selection of this nature. “This shows that there is a favorable innovation ecosystem to be fostered in Brazil. Petrobras, recognized for having innovation in its DNA, has much to contribute to this journey. We are already eager to meet the best projects,” says the executive.
After selecting the twenty best proposals, the second phase of the process will define the 10 winning projects, which will receive funding ranging from R$500 thousand to R$1.5 million each. The publication of the final results and the hiring of the projects should occur by the end of the year.

The evaluation considers the impact of the solution on Petrobras’s business, the consistency and feasibility of the project, the technical capacity of the team, the degree of innovation, and the level of technological maturity, among others. In this first edition, six areas of interest were defined: digital technologies, new energies, CO2 capture and utilization, corrosion, nanotechnologies, and catalysts. All received proposals.
“The companies approved in the program will have the support of Sebrae and Petrobras throughout the execution of the projects. Entrepreneurs will have access to specialized consulting for improving management and technological processes, as well as intensive support in physical-financial monitoring. This support will be crucial to enhance the competitiveness level of the business during the execution of the project,” explains the Technical Director of Sebrae, Bruno Quick.
