Bahia Is Offering A New Free Solar Energy Course in Response to Sector Growth. The Expectation Is That 300 New Photovoltaic Installers Will Be Trained by The End of The Year.

The solar energy market is growing in the country, which has increased the demand for certain positions, such as photovoltaic installers. This professional is responsible for installing and maintaining the structures used for generating solar energy, ensuring their operation in accordance with the NR 10 and NR 35 standards. To meet this demand, the government of Bahia is offering a free solar energy course.

Learn More About The Free Solar Energy Course

The free solar energy course offered by the government of Bahia aims to qualify professionals to install and maintain photovoltaic solar energy systems, ensuring correct planning in accordance with current legislation and applicable norms regarding quality, health, safety, and the environment.

Noted for being one of the fastest-growing sectors in Brazil, the energy photovoltaic market is also one of the largest employers. With this in mind, through the Train to Employ program, the Municipal Secretariat for Economic Development, Employment and Income of Salvador (Semdec) is offering Salvadorians the free Solar Panel Installation course.

The training sessions are conducted by Trecon, a company specialized in training and maintenance in the electricity sector, and the Bahia Association of Photovoltaic Solar Energy (ABSolar), both partners of the city hall.

The solar energy course for photovoltaic installers has a workload of 120 hours, where 30% of the classes are theoretical and 70% are practical. Those interested in participating in the free solar energy course in Bahia should visit the Train to Employ website for more information.

Testimonials From Former Students of The Free Solar Energy Course

The electrical engineer Glauber Souza completed the photovoltaic installer course offered by the Municipal Labor Intermediation System of Salvador (SIMM) under the Train to Employ program. Although he had already accumulated theoretical knowledge in the solar energy area, Glauber needed to acquire the practical experience necessary to work in the sector.

According to him, his background in Electrical Engineering provided a solid theoretical foundation, but practical experience was lacking. “In the classroom, we don’t have much practical experience. We need to seek additional training courses to gain this practical knowledge that is missing, especially in more specific activities,” explains Glauber.

The engineer emphasizes that the photovoltaic energy sector is rapidly growing and the demand for qualified professionals, such as photovoltaic installers, is high. After researching the sector, Glauber noticed that many companies installing photovoltaic systems are focused on the commercial aspect, that is, selling materials, choosing to outsource the assembly of equipment.

In light of this, he is considering forming his own team of installers in the future. It is worth mentioning that the employment rate for students certified in the same course pursued by Glauber is 90%, according to Ivan Euler, head of Secis. The municipal administration aims to train 300 new professionals by the end of the year.

Bahia Is A Leader In Solar Energy Generation In The Northeast

Bahia is a leader in solar energy generation in the Northeast and, according to 2022 data from the Brazilian Association of Photovoltaic Solar Energy (Absolar), about 69,400 consumers use clean energy in the state.

Among Bahia’s enterprises, restaurants are the top users of clean energy, followed by educational institutions, hotels, bakeries, and gyms. The solar plants installed on roofs or on the ground are part of the distributed generation modality.

From 2022 to 2023 alone, there was a 56% increase in the number of plants established in this modality, according to data from the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel). In Bahia, the number of systems increased from 83,000 to 130,000.
