Log-In Intermodal Logistics Invested R$ 60 Million in the Log-In Endurance Ship. The Brazilian Coastal Player Has Ambitious Growth Plans in the Country
As one of the largest coastal and port logistics companies in Brazil, Log-In Intermodal Logistics is making another important step by investing in fleet growth and optimizing its operations between Brazil and Argentina (Buenos Aires). Recently, the Log-In Endurance ship was acquired to serve the South Atlantic Service (SAS), one of the most important lines for the company.
“The significant investment in another owned ship and also in hiring crew members, at such a critical moment, reaffirms Log-In’s confidence in the modal and in the company’s own capacity to develop Brazilian coastal navigation,” says Mauricio Alvarenga, Commercial Director of Log-In Intermodal Logistics. “Intermodal transportation is very strategic, not only now but at any other time, due to its crucial characteristic of keeping the supply chain operational. Our sector is united to help society, and we see this as a moment not to stop,” emphasizes the businessman.
This acquisition is part of the company’s business strategy that began in 2016. The ship has a capacity of 2,800 TEUs and can even transport refrigerated containers. The entire crew will be 100% Brazilian, valuing the national labor force and the technical capacity of our maritime professionals. In fact, 76 crew members have already been hired to operate not only the Log-In Endurance ship but also the Log-In Polaris, purchased in 2017 and which began operating in 2019.

Lower Environmental Impact
The Log-In Endurance will transport more cargo with a lower environmental impact. With a 10% increase in capacity compared to the current ship being replaced and an electronic fuel injection system, the main combustion engine burns bunker fuel more efficiently, resulting in reduced fuel consumption, maintenance costs, and engine lifespan, as well as decreasing sulfur emissions into the atmosphere. Better service for customers and sustainability.
Cabotage is a very promising modal in Brazil, a country with an extensive navigable coastline of 8,500 kilometers where the main cities, industrial hubs, and large consumer centers are concentrated along the coast or in nearby cities. Compared to road and rail transport, in terms of cost, cargo capacity, reduction in damage and theft, and environmental impact, cabotage is the most effective alternative to complement the supply chain of various sectors.
The acquisition of Log-In Endurance marks a new phase
“In 2016, we began a restructuring process to address the company’s debt and low business profitability. The challenges were many, including expense review, asset sales, debt negotiations, and investment plan reductions. The acquisition of Log-In Endurance marks a new phase and will be crucial to support our growth,” emphasizes Alvarenga.
Log-In Intermodal Logistics is headquartered in Rio de Janeiro, with eight regional offices (Manaus, Fortaleza, Recife, Salvador, Santos, São Paulo, Porto Alegre, and Buenos Aires); in addition, it has two intermodal terminals in Guarujá-SP and Itajaí-SC, and a port terminal in Vila Velha-ES. Net revenue in 2019 surpassed 1 billion reais, with a volume of containers transported totaling approximately 357,800 TEUs, a figure 5.1% higher than in 2018. Another significant milestone was the successful completion in November 2019 of the primary public share offering, in which Log-In raised R$ 634 million. It’s also important to highlight that last year, the company achieved a historic mark of zero accidents with lost time across its entire fleet.
