The DACHSER Hydrogen Trucks Will Contribute to the Zero Pollutant Emissions Initiative, Starting to Circulate on the Streets in 2023
São Paulo, October 7, 2022 – DACHSER, a global logistics service provider, will initiate a transport operation with two hydrogen-powered trucks. This operation will begin in 2023 in two cities in Germany, and the trucks are part of the zero-emission initiative, similar to the company’s existing electric vehicles in the market.
The hydrogen-powered truck, Hyundai Xcient, will operate in Magdeburg, Germany, with a payload of 27 tons and a range of 400 km, and it can be operated in two shifts. The zero-emission truck will be used for distribution in the region, as well as night transport in Berlin, the capital of Germany. The hydrogen-powered Bluepower 1938 FCEV from Engenius will provide delivery services in downtown Hamburg. It has a maximum capacity of up to 19 tons and a range of about 250 km. In addition to the trucks, DACHSER will have hydrogen supply stops at two DACHSER branches in Berlin and Magdeburg.
Hydrogen Will Be Key to the Future
Hydrogen is a fundamental fuel bet for the future in the commitment to reduce carbon emissions, along with the introduction and use of electric cars. According to a study commissioned by DACHSER from Kempten University of Applied Sciences, the range of hydrogen-powered trucks would exceed 500 km with compressed gas technology. H2 is the most abundant chemical element in the universe and will change the future of the automotive industry.
