Shortly after, the awards ceremony took place in late March 2025, at Distrito Itaqui, in Itapevi (SP). In this regard, the event brought together representatives from the country’s leading companies, as highlighted by IT Forum itself.

Evaluation criteria and national recognition
The award received 351 submitted cases, according to data from IT Forum 2025. Additionally, the organizations were evaluated based on technical and strategic criteria.
The main pillars analyzed include:
- Innovation and originality (up to 25%)
- Impact on business results (up to 25%)
- IT leadership in innovation (up to 20%)
- Complexity and scalability (up to 15%)
- Sustainability and social responsibility (up to 10%)
- Strategic alignment (up to 5%)
Therefore, these criteria totaled 100% of the score, ensuring a rigorous evaluation.
According to Sergio Araújo, Superintendent of Digital, Innovation, and Strategic Projects, the company maintains consistency in its agenda. Thus, strategic projects have been conducted with a focus on digitalization, data usage, and artificial intelligence.
Furthermore, he stated that innovation has been used as a lever for efficiency, revenue assurance, and improving the customer experience.
Robust investments and strategic projects
At the same time, Grupo Equatorial’s progress has been supported by investments exceeding R$ 400 million per year in innovation. Consequently, these contributions have been growing continuously.
Currently, the company is conducting more than 50 strategic projects, organized into four main pillars:
- Customer experience
- Operational efficiency and safety
- Revenue assurance
- Energy transition
Among these initiatives, the implementation of the ADMS (Advanced Distribution Management System) stands out. It is, therefore, one of the largest projects in the world focused on energy distribution management.
This allows the technology to provide real-time monitoring of operations, which contributes to greater agility in responding to incidents. Furthermore, the quality of the service provided is enhanced.
Culture of innovation and technological development
In addition, Grupo Equatorial reinforced its strategy by creating EQTLab, its Institute of Science and Technology. The space was inaugurated in 2023, in São Luís (MA), as reported by the company.
In this context, the hub functions as a connection environment between the company, startups, and universities. Thus, the goal is to develop solutions with practical and measurable impact.
At the same time, the institute also works on talent training, intellectual property generation, and strengthening the culture of innovation.
