Labor Shortage in IT Leads Companies to Offer More Than 80 Thousand Free Scholarships in Programming, AI, and Cybersecurity Courses in 2025. See How to Enroll and Change Your Career.

The growing labor shortage in IT is driving companies and educational institutions to launch a real educational offensive in 2025. With the technology market in full expansion and thousands of open positions without qualified professionals to fill them, more than 80 thousand free scholarships in courses on Python, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity are being made available in Brazil, in an attempt to reverse the scenario and train new talents.

The initiative comes from platforms such as Alura, Coursera, DIO, Samsung Ocean, FGV, and large companies like Santander and Microsoft, which offer everything from introductory training to intensive programs focused on the job market.

Labor Shortage in IT Pressures Companies to Seek Quick Solutions

According to experts, the technology market in 2025 suffers from a mismatch between the demand for professionals and the number of qualified individuals. The lack of specialists in areas such as Python programming, cybersecurity, data science, and artificial intelligence is one of the biggest barriers to the growth of startups, fintechs, and mid-sized companies.

The response to this bottleneck comes in the form of free technology courses, aimed at both beginners and professionals seeking to switch careers.

Free Programming and AI Courses: Training with Certificate and High Employability Potential

Among the main initiatives is the Data Immersion with Python, promoted by Alura, with 82 thousand open spots aimed at those who want to learn programming from scratch. The course takes place from August 5 to 8, entirely online, and includes a certificate.

The content includes fundamentals of the Python language, creating dashboards with real data via Streamlit, and a special masterclass for beginners. Registrations closed on August 3.

In the field of artificial intelligence, the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV) offers a series of free online courses with certification, covering everything from the fundamentals of AI to practical applications with ChatGPT and generative AI in corporate and academic environments.

Santander Focuses on Cybersecurity with Free Bootcamp

Another highlight is the Santander Cybersecurity Bootcamp 2025, developed in partnership with the DIO platform. With 31 hours of practical content, the program includes 15 courses, technical challenges, and live sessions with information security experts.

Aimed at those who already have a basic knowledge of Python, the bootcamp seeks to train professionals ready to work in offensive security, one of the most promising and underserved areas of the IT market. Registration is open until September 7.

Generative AI Dominates International Training with Support from Giants Like AWS, Google, and Microsoft

The global platform Coursera has expanded its catalog of free courses focusing on generative AI. In total, there are more than 900 training programs aimed at developing solutions with artificial intelligence, supported by companies like AWS, Microsoft, Google Cloud, IBM, and Snowflake.

Among the most sought-after courses are:

  • AWS Generative AI Applications, for businesses with AI without requiring prior technical knowledge.
  • Microsoft 365 with Generative AI, which teaches how to increase productivity with Copilot.
  • Google Cloud GenAI Leader, aimed at leaders who wish to implement workflows with AI.

All courses offer globally recognized certificates.

Samsung Ocean Expands Access with Free Courses in Various Technical Areas

The Samsung Ocean, Samsung’s educational platform in Brazil, is also offering free and certified training in August. The agenda includes classes on artificial intelligence, data visualization, Android, Arduino, prototyping, game creation with Unity, blockchain, and much more.

In addition to the technical focus, Ocean offers tracks on digital entrepreneurship, with workshops and practical startup creation experiences.

Part of the classes is in-person (in São Paulo, Manaus, and São José dos Campos), and part is remote, making it accessible to the entire country. Access here to check all the information about Samsung’s free courses

FGV Invests in Strategic Training to Transform Technology into Competitive Advantage

FGV takes a more management-focused approach in information technology, with courses like “IT as a Strategic Element in Organizations” and “Business Intelligence.” The aim is to show how IT can be an ally in corporate decision-making, focusing on data analysis, automation, and innovation.

The courses are ideal for professionals from various fields who wish to understand how technology can enhance their results. Access here for FGV courses

Projects Focused on Inclusion: Qive and Pretax Train Black Women for the IT Sector

In addition to technical training, the sector is also advancing in inclusive initiatives. The Pretax program, by Qive, offers four internship positions for black women studying technology. The program is 100% remote, with a stipend of R$ 2 thousand per month, along with benefits such as a food allowance of R$ 745.

The internship is set to start in November 2025 and may extend for up to two years. The focus will be on Full Stack development, with real work in engineering squads.

Training for IT Sector: Ideal Time to Switch Careers or Re-enter the Job Market

With the combination of a lack of professionals in the IT sector and the explosion of vacancies for AI, programming, and information security, experts indicate that 2025 is the ideal time for those who wish to start a career in technology or update their professional skills.

The massive offering of free courses, most of them with certificates, lowers the entry barrier and allows people of different knowledge levels to take their first steps.

The labor shortage in IT is a structural problem that threatens the growth of the sector but also represents a rare opportunity for those who wish to change their lives.

With more than 80 thousand free scholarships in technology courses offered by companies and educational institutions, professionals from any area now have the chance to learn programming, AI, or cybersecurity and access one of the hottest and most promising markets in Brazil.
