Firjan (Federation of Industries of the State of Rio de Janeiro) recently released data related to the initial salaries of the main segments of the national market. The oil and natural gas sector was the winner on the list, with the highest initial salary in 2022. The average in the fuel extraction segment was R$ 9,605. Meanwhile, engineers lead the initial salaries in the national labor market.

Recently, the organization released data for 2022, along with a complete ranking of the highest initial salaries in the national industry sectors and occupations.

The oil and natural gas extraction sector topped the list, with an average initial salary of R$ 9,605, according to the ranking.
In 2022, there was significant growth in oil and gas exploration projects in the national market, driving up the initial salary amounts.
The amount is almost five times higher than the national average of the analyzed areas (R$ 1,944), according to Firjan.
The agency considers data from Caged (General Register of Employed and Unemployed) to compile the annual ranking.
The oil and gas sector continues to be the leader among segments of the national industry, while engineers lead the occupations.
“This is a sector that, in addition to being buoyant, demands a high level of specialization from professionals,” said Jonathas Goulart, manager of economic studies at Firjan.
The field of national engineering also saw substantial growth in the 2022 market. According to the federation, the segments in the sector stood out due to the high increase in hiring pay compared to 2021 (18.5%).
Meanwhile, the oil and gas sector experienced a 10.8% increase in hiring pay in 2022, according to the table.
Thus, Firjan’s data reinforces the strong presence of the oil and natural gas sector in the Brazilian market.
