Classes will take place in EAD (distance education) format, with a start date expected on February 11, 2025.
The program’s goal is to complement the training of basic education professionals, offering updated, practical, and accessible subjects that cover diverse content related to school routines, teaching methodologies, and areas of knowledge outlined in the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC).
Diversity of Available Areas and Subjects
The program encompasses seven major areas of knowledge: Natural Sciences, Human Sciences, Special and Inclusive Education, Languages and Codes, Mathematics, Teaching Practice, and Educational Technology.
Within these areas, teachers can choose up to two subjects that best align with their professional needs and interests.
The 2025 edition brings 22 new subjects, including: Biology, Physics, Philosophy, History, Theories and Pedagogical Practices, Fundamentals of Elementary Mathematics, Instrumentation for Teaching, Everyday School Knowledge, Educational Computing, and Web-Based Training.
This represents a significant expansion of professional updating possibilities, making the offer even more attractive and comprehensive.

The program is primarily aimed at teachers active in the public education network of the State of Rio de Janeiro, but it also includes other profiles.
Eligible applicants include:

Assessments are conducted online, and to pass, a minimum of 60% overall achievement in the proposed activities is necessary.
Course materials are provided free of charge on the digital platform of Fundação Cecierj, where interactions between students and tutors also take place.
The Importance of Continued Education
Continued education is essential to keep up with the transformations in teaching in the 21st century.
According to the 2023 School Census, less than half of basic education teachers in Brazil have undertaken any form of continued education — a figure far below the 100% target set by the National Education Plan by 2024.
Investing in continued education is investing in teaching quality, teacher motivation, and student learning.
Additionally, it prepares educators to deal with the challenges of a constantly evolving educational environment, marked by technology use, inclusion, and active learning methodologies.
Trends in Education for 2025
Experts indicate that the main trends in pedagogical training for 2025 include the development of socio-emotional skills, the use of active methodologies (such as flipped classroom and gamification), and the expansion of hybrid teaching and digital education.
Topics such as sustainability, innovation, artificial intelligence, formative assessment, and digital citizenship are also gaining prominence.
The courses offered by Fundação Cecierj keep pace with these transformations and contribute to teacher updating in an accessible, practical, and certified manner.
