The Federal Institute of São Paulo has opened registrations for a free postgraduate course whose spot will be decided by lottery, according to Notice No. 49/2026, published on June 2, 2026, by the São João da Boa Vista Campus. There are 200 spots in the lato sensu specialization course in Distance Education in Professional and Technological Education, offered in the EaD modality with face-to-face support centers. Registrations run from June 3 to 15, 2026, and the selection takes place in a single stage, through an electronic public lottery scheduled for June 23.

The process does not charge registration, enrollment, or tuition fees, but it also does not waive basic requirements. To compete, it is necessary to have a diploma of graduation in any area recognized by the Ministry of Education and reside in the State of São Paulo. Who Can Register and Until When

The main difference in this selection process is the absence of an exam, replaced by an electronic public lottery.

According to the Federal Institute’s announcement, the lottery takes place in a single stage on June 23, 2026, at 3 PM, under the supervision of the Academic Records Coordination, with live streaming on the campus website at sbv.ifsp.edu.br.

The system randomly assigns numbers among the applicants to determine the ranking.

To ensure transparency, anyone can reproduce and audit the result.

The notice explains that you just need to access the draw program, enter the number of applicants and the generated control seed, and compare the produced list with the official result.

The preliminary classification is scheduled for June 26, with an appeal period on June 29 and the announcement of the appeal results on July 1.

It is important to emphasize that the public draw defines the selection by lottery among the eligible candidates, not by academic merit.

Vacancies by center and affirmative action quotas

The 200 vacancies are divided among six face-to-face support centers.

Five of them are located in the capital of São Paulo, in the neighborhoods of Interlagos, Jardim Miragaia, Jardim Santa Lucrécia, Vila das Belezas, and Vila Nova Cachoeirinha, each with 30 vacancies, while the São João da Boa Vista Campus holds the other 50.

The candidate chooses the center to which they wish to be linked at the time of registration.

The Federal Institute also reserves part of the vacancies for affirmative actions, according to the legislation.

Based on IFSP Resolution No. 41, of 2017, 20% of the vacancies are allocated to candidates who self-declare as black, brown, or indigenous, and 5% to people with disabilities.

Those who are drawn need to meet a sequence of deadlines to not lose the spot.

The final result is scheduled for July 2, 2026, and enrollment for the first call takes place from July 6 to 19, done through the Gov.br platform.
