Popular Education in Health: A Differentiator in Professionals’ Curriculum
Scheduled to start in 2024, the free specialization in Popular Education in Health from Fiocruz is aimed at healthcare professionals and social activists from various Brazilian regions, offering in-depth training on essential practices and knowledge in public health.
The course is in-person and will last 12 months, totaling 360 hours, and aims to prepare participants to act in the implementation of the National Policy for Popular Education in Health (PNEPS-SUS).
Throughout the course, students will learn to create spaces for reflection and dialogue on educational practices, integrate technical knowledge with popular knowledge, and promote health actions in their regions of activity.
According to Fiocruz, the goal is to train professionals who not only work directly in public health but also contribute effectively to the consolidation of a more inclusive and participatory SUS.
Spots and Training Locations
To facilitate access to the course, Fiocruz distributed the spots among six training locations located in different regions of the country.
Each location will have 40 spots and will be aimed at both professionals from the host city and candidates from nearby cities, which extends the reach and accessibility of the program.
The locations are:
- North Region: Palmas, TO
- Northeast Region 1: Eusébio, CE
- Northeast Region 2: Recife, PE
- South Region: Passo Fundo, RS
- Central-West Region: Brasília, DF
- Southeast Region: Vitória, ES
The distribution of spots will be done strategically, ensuring that professionals from different regions have access to this high-level training.
Half of the spots will be allocated to candidates residing within 50 km of the host city, while the other half will be aimed at interested parties from other locations.
Registrations and Selection Process
Registrations for the course will be open from October 21 to November 21, 2024, exclusively through the SIGA platform.
The selection process will consist of two stages, where candidates will undergo an analysis of the Letter of Intent and the Curriculum, both rated from 0 to 10 with specific weights for the final score composition.
According to Fiocruz, the Letter of Intent will be essential to understand the candidate’s motivations and how they intend to contribute to the development of the SUS and practices of popular education in health.
This detailed analysis will allow the institution to select profiles aligned with the course proposal, which aims to develop leaders in the promotion of public health.
