This Is The Second News Involving Problems on Modec Platforms in Brazil; In August, Cracks Were Found on The Hull of The FPSO Cidade do Rio de Janeiro.
Modec reported yesterday, September 23, that operations of the FPSO Cidade de Santos platform, operated by it on behalf of Petrobras in the Uruguá and Tambaú fields in the Santos basin, were suspended after an inspection by authorities on the 19th of this month revealed nonconformities on the platform. In August, Modec reported that cracks were found on the hull of the platform FPSO Cidade do Rio de Janeiro.
The suspension of operations of the FPSO Cidade de Santos platform was the result of Operation Ouro Negro, which conducts inspection and oversight actions on offshore platforms and typically involves agencies such as the Navy, the regulator ANP, the Public Labor Ministry (MPT), the federal environmental agency Ibama, among others.

The FPSO Cidade de Santos is located in the Santos Basin and produces approximately 8,500 barrels of oil per day, according to the operator Modec.
The Japanese multinational did not provide details on the nature or volume of the nonconformities found during Operation Ouro Negro.
According to the company, the audit recommended improvements in benzene management, a substance that, according to them, would be a natural characteristic of this field.
“The vessel’s crew is working to resolve the issues identified and to resume operations of the unit as soon as possible,” said Modec, without disclosing details about the timeline.
Modec also stated that the platform remains with the maximum number of people on board and that there has been no disembarkation related to the nonconformities.
This is the second news involving problems on Modec platforms in Brazil in about a month. FPSO is a type of floating ship for production, storage, and transfer of oil and gas.
Petrobras has preferred not to comment on the incident so far.
