It is common for manufacturers to limit the power range of a charge to reduce potential battery damage, especially when using high-power fast chargers.

Until now, the Mustang Mach-E would slow down when reaching 80% capacity. The remaining 20% was executed at a lower power to save the battery and prevent severe damage. Thanks to its latest remote update, this 80% margin has been expanded.

Until Reaching 90% Battery, The Recharge Will Be Done At Maximum Capacity

Through various customer forums, the first owners receiving the update have already noticed the change. This is one of the points included in Ford’s customer satisfaction program. There is no official data yet, but early experiences show that the new battery protection limit is at 90%. In other words, until reaching 90% battery, the recharge will be done at the maximum capacity of the point, limiting and degrading speed once that point has been exceeded.

Obviously, this will translate into a better user experience for the customer through faster recharges. We reiterate that this only applies to high-power charging points. The change is significant because until now, upon reaching 80% battery capacity, the Ford Mustang Mach-E would cut off power, reducing the charging rate to around 10 kW, which meant a much longer time to reach maximum battery level.

This was not the only significant update for Ford’s increasingly popular electric vehicle. Besides this higher charging speed, there is an optimized and extended electric range. This will be complemented by an improved construction process, the elimination of certain unnecessary components, and an overall weight reduction. With all of this, the Ford Mustang Mach-E will continue to be one of the best buying options in performance, product, and results. More updates of this kind are expected in the future, as confirmed by the chief engineer of the model, Donna Dickson, in a recent interview.
