A Team Is On Its Way To Unmoor The FPSO Cidade do Rio de Janeiro Operated By Modec And Chartered By Petrobras

According to the Union and major media, there is recently information that the FPSO Cidade do Rio de Janeiro ship, in the Campos Basin, is listing and is at risk of sinking, although Petrobras has not officially confirmed this fact. About 100 workers were removed from the vessel, which is operated by Modec, under charter by Petrobras.

On the last day 23, at 1:30 PM, a tear in the hull of the ship was identified, about one meter deep, which caused an increase in the volume of water in the tanks. A first group of workers was then disembarked. Today, with the increase of the tear, the remainder was evacuated.

The union is monitoring the case with Petrobras. The company claims that the vessel is in “static equilibrium” and that a specialized team will be mobilized to unmoor and tow it to the shipyard.

This week there were rumors that the state-owned company would be privatized, the government denied the misunderstanding and stated that there is no intention to privatize the company.
