Group Of Companies Speaks Out
It is worth noting that the action plan should be presented before the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26). The mission is to generate strategies to achieve the long-sought neutrality of global pollutant gas emissions, increasing the competitiveness and participation of hydrogen, which plays an important role in the transition to a low-carbon economy.
According to the statement from the group of companies led by Shell, the task force intends to generate a model for a hydrogen ecosystem that utilizes both long-term utility-scale projects and short-term industrial-scale projects.

The world has bet on green hydrogen as the fuel of the future, but now faces the side effect: producing 1 kilogram requires about 9 liters of ultrapure water, and the largest projects on the planet are precisely in the driest regions of the Earth, where water is already scarce for people.
The news also highlights that Shell’s CEO, Ben Van Beurden, believes that the versatility of hydrogen as an energy carrier will be crucial for the electric sector, but this depends on its economic competitiveness and viability.
Meet The Companies That Aim To Increase Hydrogen Competitiveness And Participation
The group includes various representatives from BP, Toyota Motor Europe, Siemens Energy, Anglo American, Cummins, Bank Of America, Fortescue Metals Group, ITM Power, Hydrogen Council, Linde, Macquarie, and 8 Rivers Capital, as well as the Sustainable Markets Initiative (SMI).
It is worth noting that the major opportunities for hydrogen generation come from countries with renewable energy matrices, such as Brazil, which has already announced that it will soon disclose guidelines for the National Hydrogen Plan, which will help stimulate this market.
In terms of its national aspects, Brazil has several advantages for hydrogen generation, such as the availability of liquefied natural gas (LNG) for the production of “blue” or “brown” hydrogen, as well as the capacity for significant renewable energy generation with potential expansion and competitive prices.
